Vaniah's MBA Diaries

On Saturday 1st October 2005, I started an MBA course at the Said Business School, University of Oxford. I'm still wondering how it all happened that I ended up here but I guess that we must all play the hand that we are dealt. So that I don't forget, this blog is intended to document my business school adventure.

My Photo
Name:
Location: London, United Kingdom

I was born on the sunny tropical isle of Jamaica, and as soon as I could organise it, I moved to colder climes. Crazy huh? After finishing a stint in the city know for its dreaming Spires and knocking around Sweden for a while, I've finaly decided what my next adventure should be. My lovely (Swedish) fiance and I shall be travelling around the world after our wedding in August. Going full circle that is...

Week one

Where has the time gone?

I guess that part of my reluctance to blog over the last week has been a niggling doubt about what I can and cannot write about my time at the large internet company with two O's in it's name. There are official blogging guidelines here which I have yet to read so I won't say more than I'm having a great time there (which I am).

The Churchill Club
So, on Tuesday, David and I went along to a panel discussion put on by the Churchill Club at the Palo Alto Hills golf club where we heard top Hollywood execs speak on "The Future of Movies". I was particularly impressed with Bob Lambert from Disney of all places - it sounds as if Disney was the only company represented that had their act together and has been thinking about the future direction of content providers. In all, an interesting evening, David definately enjoyed the ambiance of the club :)

Team LIC WTOIIN
To prove that we are actually doing some work, here is a picture of the team with our sponser, Joshua.

And to prove that it isn't really that bad, here's a photo taken later on that day!

Other Interns
There are several other students from various Universities and stages in their education but that doesn't prevent us from hanging out. Here's a shot of us at The Cheescake Factory for dinner last night.

Hey...glad to see that you made it to the Bay Area. Hope all is well and that you're enjoying everything. I see you've already been to the city from the Cheesecake factory photos ;)

Enjoy...I'll be in town starting 8/18.
