Vaniah's MBA Diaries

On Saturday 1st October 2005, I started an MBA course at the Said Business School, University of Oxford. I'm still wondering how it all happened that I ended up here but I guess that we must all play the hand that we are dealt. So that I don't forget, this blog is intended to document my business school adventure.

I was born on the sunny tropical isle of Jamaica, and as soon as I could organise it, I moved to colder climes. Crazy huh? After finishing a stint in the city know for its dreaming Spires and knocking around Sweden for a while, I've finaly decided what my next adventure should be. My lovely (Swedish) fiance and I shall be travelling around the world after our wedding in August. Going full circle that is...

Stockholm in Summer

After a very hectic end of Trinity, I just needed to take a break Stockholm was just the place to go. The weather remained a gorgeous 23° with clear blue skies and a gentle breeze in the air. A city of several islands surrounded by sea and a midnight sun makes summer in Stockholm just awesome!

Sorry that I haven't posted for a few days, I've been having too much of a great time. Here's a taste of what Johan and I got up to...

The Vasa museum - sometimes you've just got to love the crazy Swedes! The Vasa was a warship built in the time of King Gustavus Adolphus and made her maiden voyage in August 1628 - she managed to sail for about 100m and then sank... here's a write-up in English on the raising of the Vasa. 333 years later, she was raised and restored to her place of pride in the museum of her name.

We spent a couple days in Nynäshamn, Johan's home town, which was a beautiful little fishing town. It reminded me of lazy summer days, going barefoot, shooting the breeze with friends...

barbeques, hammocks, daredevil pranks, boatrides, picnics in the park... Sweden is a beautiful country. I think I totally forgot all about Oxford, the MBA, Yahoo!, my next job, everything while I was there. I wish I didn't have to come home...
